My primary complaint on mugs is usually the material and the finish. Too many mugs are prone to flimsyness and an external coating all too reminiscent of sandpaper. I have a fairly simple thought process when evaluating a mug. Firstly, is it comfortable to hold? (A many dimensional decision, weight, texture and so on). Secondly, if I clobbered someone over the head with it, would I do any serious damage. If I reckon it will only cause cuts and bruises its not the mug for me.
